Throughout high school, I used to wear weaves, braids and relaxers. I hated my natural hair. It was too coarse and kinky. Imagine a sponge absorbing water. Yup, that's my hair.
It didn't make me feel confident whatsoever. I didn't feel pretty with my natural hair. Seldom times, I thought I looked too much like a boy. So I never had the guts.
Since my time at Howard, I have been instilled with pride for my ethnic background and cherish the beauty that is mine. Naturally. I cut all my hair off a year ago to build my self-esteem. Since that day, I've loved myself. I love my beauty. I love my hair.
